With a trademark in capturing and representing portals, windows, doors and gateways which he finds in his home country of Lebanon, his artwork and style sustain the image of what once was. Expressionism, abstract and nudes are just another side of his artwork where he adopts the same techniques to create his masterpieces. His talent appeared in his early childhood, he never followed or took any painting courses at specialized universities or institutes, however his own personal effort pushed him to learn and excel in his work through art books. He dealt with various subjects but he was very well known for painting oriental Lebanese old doors, windows and balconies.

Andre is known for the way he adopts oil paint coloring with a cutter, nails and pin as his lone tools. At seventeen, he embraced professionalism. He dealt with various subjects but he was very well known for painting oriental Lebanese old doors, windows and balconies. Andre was attracted mostly to the ancientness of the doors and how ragged and broken down they seemed to be, to him they possessed a beauty as he later explained in one of his television interviews; many have gone on to say that the beauty found in his artwork is not only dreamy but it is surreal and real at the same time somehow. He not only obtained various appreciation and merits awards but he is also the animator of the art committee at the "Development Association" in Gemmayze, Lebanon.
Andre has also had foreign mass media provided to him and to his paintings and they have been dubbed of great importance. His permanent exhibition and his art gallery current reside in Hboub, Jbeil (Florida Center) Byblos, Lebanon.
Andre Kalfayan was born into a poor, modest family of very humble beginnings. When he was a child he would often watch other kids go to school while he himself had to work. He did odd end jobs here and there to procure money for himself and his family and throughout his young childhood he developed a fondness to doors, windows, gateways and portals really. This fascination with them inspired him to start sketching, drawing and later painting these pathways to unknown places. He started using cutters along with oil paint and other tools one would not expect to create realistic paintings of shattered and old doors because those "spoke to him" the most.
